Shop Tour: Pure Vision Design

On a recent weekday I took the short drive from the California Car Cover headquarters in Chatsworth, Ca to visit Steve Strope and our friends at Pure Vision Design in Simi Valley, Ca. Steve's shop builds some of the baddest touring muscle cars in the country and I wanted to see what was going on at his recently expanded facility.

Pure Vision Design always has a strong presence at large automotive events, such as the Grand National Roadster Show and the SEMA Show. The vehicles they build are always featured in magazines, such as Hot Rod, and the Fast and the Furious movie series. Though the shop's motto might be "Yesterday's Muscle Car, Today," here is a hot rod that is currently under construction at his shop.

Steve Strope and Pure Vision Design have a nice facility with room to assemble and customize plenty of vehicles, but that is not how Steve started out back in 1997. The first cars that Steve built were actually put together in friend's driveways and underground parking structures. It is nice to see how things have progressed for Steve at the crew at Pure Vision Design.

I met Steve a few years ago at the SEMA Show. The 1969 Dodge 515 GTB was featured on our January 2009 catalog cover. More details about that vehicle can be read on the Pure Vision Design website.

New Golden Shine Car Care Products for Spring

California Car Cover is proud to announce four additional items have been added to the Golden Shine Car Care line this spring. Available starting this month, we are now offering Leather Care, Tire & Trim Spray, Undercarriage Spray and Headlight Restorer in the Golden Shine brand.

"The Golden Shine line has been well received by our customers. We have been listening to many of their suggestions for new products and look forward to bringing more great items annually," said Jim DeFrank.
One of our more popular products has been our Tire and Trim Dressing. The premium dressing works great and provides a long lasting shine, but does need to be applied with a foam applicator and worked into the tires or trim. For those enthusiasts looking for a quicker way to apply the dressing we developed the Golden Shine Tire & Trim Spray.
The Tire & Trim Spray applies easily and sprays on for maximum covering in a short amount of time. Any access or over spray can easily be wiped up with a microfiber towel.

Once the Golden Shine Tire & Trim Spray is applied simply go over the treated area with a microfiber towel or foam applicator to make sure the dressing is evenly applied.

Undercarriage Spray is no longer an auto detailer's secret. This product works wonders on fender wells and undercarriages. Often fender wells look dull and are covering in dust and dirt that is kicked up from the tires. This product provides a low shine coating to make dark plastics and metals look new.


Often fender wells look like this. Though the car might have recently been washed, fender wells can look dirty and dull. We recommend first rinsing the fender wells with a degreaser, such as our Golden Shine Go-To Cleaner. This will rinse away a lot of the grime and provide a cleaner surface for the Undercarriage Spray to bond to.

Spray the Golden Shine Undercarriage Spray evenly around the fender wells and undercarriage. A nice even coat will give your vehicle a nice even shine and looks great for days, not hours.

Looking to keep your seats clean and soft? The Golden Shine Leather Care is a cleaner and conditioner for interior leather surfaces.
The product is really easy to use. Simply apply a small amount to a towel, work into the leather surface and buff dry.

Golden Shine Leather Care provides a low sheen to all the leather surfaces in your vehicle.

Headlights looking a little hazy? Our Golden Shine Headlight Restorer will help you clear up some hazing and make your headlights look like new. The polish is easy to use and does not require the use of a polish ball.


Golden Shine Headlight Restorer can be applied by hand with a microfiber polishing pad. As the polish begins to break down, simply buff to a shine with a clean microfiber towel. Our Headlight Restorer is not a heavy cut polisher. It is an enthusiast grade headlight polish. The product is meant to maintain and clean headlights with light hazing, but are in fairly good condition. If your headlights have heavy yellowing that is baked into the headlights then it is better to use a heavy cut product in conjunction with a polishing ball.

The Mullin Museum in Oxnard, Ca

No local shows this past weekend meant I had a chance to drive out to Oxnard to check out the Mullin Museum. The Mullin Museum houses an exquisite collection of 1930s French automobiles. Rare and restored cars from Bugatti, Voisin, Delage, Renault and many others are all on display. The museum is only open a few days a month so make sure to check the museum's website before taking a drive out to Oxnard.
Classic French automobiles are not necessarily associated with California Car Cover, but any auto enthusiast can appreciate the detail and design of this one of a kind vehicles. The museum itself is remarkable. You might recognize some names of the Board of Directors for the museum. We have featured the cars of a few of them on the covers of past California Car Cover catalogs.

Before a grand renovation in 2006, the museum was home to the Otis Chandler automobile collection. Inside a theater room tells the story of Peter Mullin and the collection
This 1925 Bugatti Type 22 was recovered from a lake in Switzerland in 2009. The museum has a great history on the vehicle and how it was hidden in the lake instead of being destroyed in 1934. After over 60 years of being submerged, the town decided to raise the vehicles from the lake and auction it off to benefit a charitable organization.

The Schlumpf Reserve Collection is a group of classic cars all on display in their original condition. The museum provides a detailed history on the Schlumpf family and how it came about these rare vehicles.
