Portland Auto Swap Meet 2013

This past weekend was the annual Portland Auto Swap Meet in Oregon. California Car Cover has been attending the event since we started back in 1989. I personally had not been to the swap meet since I was a little kid, so it was impressive to see its expansion.
The swap meet has definitely outgrown its home at the Expo Center. There are 100's of vendors in each of the buildings, plus countless vendors in the outside parking lots. Another swap meet also takes place at the adjacent Portland International Raceway. Swap meet attendees have to take a school bus right around the properties to travel from parking lot to swap meets.
California Car Cover's booth is always located inside one of the original buildings. It is a pretty nice place to be when the weather isn't welcoming like it was over the weekend. Our sales crew was on hand for 3 days selling car covers and car care.
Out in the parking lot, there were plenty of vendors selling just about anything you can imagine for automobiles.
Plenty of parking outside was dedicated to for sale classic cars and trucks. This Chevy truck was just one of many vehicles up for sale.

Unique Stuff Spotted at the Big Three Swap Meet

This past weekend was the annual Big Three Swap Meet in San Diego, Ca. I drove down there on Saturday to check out all the action. Here are some photos of the crowds, cars and unique stuff up for sale.

The Big Three Swap Meet is held at Qualcomm Stadium. I had never been to the swap meet before and it was impressive. There were a lot of vendors with all sorts of car parts and garage stuff. A lot of the attendees were men, women or families that had simply emptied their garages. California Car Cover was not vending at the show this year, but I wanted to go down and visit some customers.

How about some hub caps? Or...hup caps?
The show attracts 100's and 100's of vendors from all over the country. There was aisle after aisle of car parts. I am used to the vendors and crowds at the Pomona Swap Meet, so the Big Three was impressive. There were plenty of cars up for sale and vendors everywhere.

Not really sure about this one...

You can find just about anything at the Big Three.

There were a ton of vendors with bicycles and motorcycles up for sale. Any make, any model, any condition pretty much.

I love old Chevy Novas and there were quite a few up for sale. Here are some photos of a few clean ones that were on display.
I like this vendor's signs. You can buy the rusty car parts and use them however you want.

These decals were on the back of a vintage trailer that was being used over the weekend at the show. Below is a California Car Cover Instagram collage from the show.

Fall Parts Exchange and Volkswagen Show

Saturday, September 17th was the 3rd Annual Fall Parts Exchange and Parking Lot Sale at California Car Cover. We had a dozen local customers and friends show up to swap parts and collectibles. It was a great event and mark your calendar for our spring event sometime in May. Our website will post the scheduled date online.
During the event, one of our Golden Shine team members was on hand demonstrating our Golden Shine Car Care Products.

There were plenty of wheels, tires, bumpers, mirrors and much more on hand at the show. It was a great place to find a deal on some diecast cars. I even picked up a few t-shirts from a vendor.
Even though it was a parking lot sale and parts exchange there were a handful of classic cars in our parking lot all morning. Here are just a few of them I could snap photos of while working.

The California Car Cover canopies were packed with seasonal merchandise and discontinued products. It was a great time to find a deal on just about anything in our warehouse. We had 12 pallets of merchandise out for sale. We only host this event twice a year, so we really bring out the merchandise and the savings.

As soon as the sun came out, USA Tacos served up tasty tacos and tortas for customers. While the parking lot sale was winding down, the Golden Shine VW Car Show was just starting.
A group of local Volkswagen and Audi enthusiasts came to hang out at California Car Cover on Saturday afternoon. It was an opportunity for us to meet some new customers and interact with the VW crowd. Golden Shine is a car care sponsor of the upcoming Oktoberfest car show in Big Bear, so it was a chance for locals to sign up for the show and check out the products.

Guests had the chance to sign up for the Oktoberfest event which will be in Big Bear on October 6th-8th. More details on the event can be found on Facebook.

Brandon, from the Golden Shine team, did product demonstrations for the attendees.
The group practiced the Air Ride competitions in preparation for Oktoberfest.

Thanks to everyone from Oktoberfest for coming out to support the event. We will see all of you at the fun in Big Bear in a few weeks. If you cannot make it up there I will post coverage of the event on here after the show.
